The number of home burglaries in Drenthe has fallen sharply in the last ten years. This is apparent from new figures from the police.
In Borger-Odoorn and Tynaarlo, the number of burglaries can even be counted on one hand in the first half year of 2025. In both municipalities, 89 percent fewer burglaries were found compared to ten years ago. This is the strongest percentage decrease of the twelve Drenthe municipality.
Only in the municipality of De Wolden did the number of burglaries increased in the past decade. It concerns 27 home burglaries in the first part of this year, compared to 25 ten years ago.
In the rest of the country, too, there are generally fewer home burglaries than ten years ago. On average, the number of home burglaries per municipality decreased by almost 60 percent.
In total, more than 9700 times were broken into in Huizen in the first half of 2025, the lowest number of the past ten years. In 2015, the police still registered more than 31,000 burglaries.
