Hustle and bustle increases on Black Saturday: Al More than 1000 km of file on French highways
It is Black Saturday on European roads towards holiday destinations and that also means connecting the FILES for Dutch holidaymakers, the ANWB reports.
On the French Route du Soleil, motorists must take into account 2.5 hours of delay between Lyon and Orange. Those who then turn in the direction of the Spanish border can add another 2.5 hours. At 12.05 am there was a peak of no less than 1,054.6 km of traffic jams on the French highways, says Mich Vergauwen of the Flemish Motorstenbond (VAB).
In Austria it is very busy on the Tauernroute from Salzburg to Villach. Especially on the first part of the traffic is struggling so that there is two hours of delays. For the Gotthard tunnel in Switzerland, the waiting time is now an hour and a half in a southerly direction. The Mont Blancunnel that connects France with Italy yields seventy minutes of delays.
According to the ANWB, the traffic in Germany is not too bad. There are many road works there, but they yield no more than half an extra travel time. Only between Hanover and Hamburg does it get more seriously, there must take the motorists into account an hour of extra.
