The market of milk in Honing in Zuidlaren almost has a tradition. This year it is the 39th time that it is held. “40 years ago, the market started as a market of the beekeeping association together with the goat breeding club. And those goats naturally give milk. That’s how the market is called,” says organizer Ton Kolkman. “It’s a biblical text. It delicious. Everyone has a feeling about milk and honey. That is the origin of those two.”

Nowadays there are no goats around. “We still live up to our name, because we still have milk, cheese and especially a lot of honey.” But more and more activities are being added, such as music, and for children there is, among other things, owl balls and building sand castles.

“We now have six beekeepers who sell honey. For a good market that sells around 150 pots of honey per stall. But the children who play here in the sand and build castles is really a party.”
