Paris Olympic champion Darja Varfolomeev once again demonstrated her top form three weeks before the World Cups in Rhythmic sports gymnastics (20th to 24th August).
As part of the finals in Dresden, Germany’s athlete of the year won all five single gold medals.
After the German championship title in all-around on Friday, the 18-year-old also won on Saturday in the device finals with ball, tires, band and legs. The subsequent World Cup in Rio de Janeiro is the highlight of the season for Varfolomeev.
For this, the finals are “the optimal preparation”, team boss Isabell Sawade said in advance. Varfolomeev had recently won two medals at the European Championship in Tallinn in Tallinn with bronze in all -round and gold on the tape, but also took their final exams for medium maturity during the same period.
This challenge “she has now behind her and she can fully concentrate on the sporting career again,” said Sawade.
