It starts again on Sunday: Eintracht Braunschweig is looking forward to the start of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga – especially coach Heiner Backhaus.
In terms of sport, there is still some open questions at Eintracht Braunschweig before the start of the new second division season. However, the mood in the team is intact – also thanks to coach Heiner Backhaus. The 43-year-old, new in office since summer, makes no secret of his anticipation for the new season on Sunday (kick-off 1.30 p.m.) at 1. FC Magdeburg.
“I’m horny for the season. We want to implement a new way of playing here and go full throttle,” said Backhaus. He does not shy away from the fact that Eintracht has always had to tremble until the end and that many experts are counted by the relegation candidates before the upcoming season. “The desire to create something is greater than the fear of not creating something.”
Backhaus is satisfied with the current squad. Above all, it is positive that the axis around goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann, defense chief Sven Köhler and midfielder Lino Tempelmann could be held together. There are hardly any injury problems at the moment.
Sports director Benjamin Kessel continues to work on reinforcements. A second goalkeeper and an additional six for the midfield should still come. “We got a lot of players who are familiar with the second division and will be full right from the start,” said Kessel before the start of the season.
