Oliver Kahn was traded as possible new managing director at Hertha BSC. But he canceled – and now justified this.

The search for a new managing director at Hertha BSC remains an issue – also because a prominent solution is off the table. Oliver Kahn first commented on the talks with the Berlin second division club and explained why he rejected the offer.

In an interview with the “kicker”, the former national goalkeeper said that the exchange with the presidium and club managers were “very open, constructive and professional”. Nevertheless, he decided against it: the time did not fit for him, and in his view it would not have been right to take on this task.

At the end of June, several media reported that Kahn was in Berlin to speak to President Fabian Drescher. The former Bayern captain was CEO at FC Bayern until 2023.

After the farewell to Tom Herrich – who, according to media reports, was not entirely voluntary – the Berliners are still looking for a successor. Several well -known names such as Jonas Boldt and Jochen Sauer are said to have canceled, as well as speculation around Felix Magath and Ralf Rangnick. At the moment Peter Görlich, formerly at TSG Hoffenheim, seems to be acted as a favorite.
