The Dutch Club Vitesse Arnheim is withdrawn from the profile license. The Dutch Football Association KNVB rejected an objection to the lower table last of the past season in the second division against the license withdrawal. With Rüdiger Rehm, a German trainer recently changed. The squad also includes ex-HSV professional Valon Zumberi and the former Werder talent Ricardo-Felipe Schwarz.
The appeal committee came to the conclusion that there was a multi -year pattern of deception and bypassing the rules of the license system as well as a lack of transparency at Vitesse, the KNVB said. This behavioral pattern has proven to be structural, serious and persistent. The club of the Dutch border town, founded in 1892, can still go to court against the association decision.
The 2017 cup winner had relegated from the Eredivisie last year and had now become a second division, also because of points deductions. The KNVB described the departure of Vitesse from professional football as very bad, not only for the club and the fans, but for the entire Dutch football. Players and fans were shocked by the decision to the Dutch media. The restlessness of amateur football is now threatened.
The club’s trigger was triggered by the club’s high millions, unclear financial and owner structures as well as incomplete accounting. Shortly before the KNVB appeal committee, the German Interim Councilor of Vitesse, Timo Braasch, resigned. Braasch had taken over Vitesse and the club’s debt with four other interested parties, but had regularly clashed with the KNVB.
