After Laura Dahlmeier’s misfortune, it was not clear for a day whether she was still alive. For US mountaineers Jackson Marvell, the matter was clear.
On Monday, biathlon Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier on the Laila Peak in Pakistan was deadly accident. She was hit by a rockfall. Much now indicates that she had no chance of survival and was dead on the spot.
In this regard, mountaineers Jackson Marvell, who was sitting in the military helicopter, has now also said from which Dahlmeier was spotted on July 29. “We flown around the mountain a few times. I was able to discover Laura in the snow and it was quite obvious that she was no longer alive,” said the US mountaineer to the AFP news agency.
The German climber Thomas Huber also went in a similar direction: “All dreams, goals are being accomplished at the back and Laura’s survival becomes the highest and most important summit. Now it was time to wait for the helicopter, which only collided us the next day early. After repeated overflight to Layla Peak, we knew that Laura had climbed to her last summit.”
In addition, Alan Rousseau and Tad McRea were two other US mountaineers on board. Dahlmeier’s rescue was not possible because the helicopter could not land on the steep slope and the weather conditions were bad.
