After having not commented on speculation about himself, Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen recently broke his silence and confirmed his whereabouts at Red Bull Racing. In this course, he also cleared up the rumors about a much-observed boat meeting with Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.
“It is time to end the rumors. For me anyway, it was always clear that I would stay”, these words from the mouth of Max Verstappen, which he expressed on Thursday in a media round in front of the Grand Prix of Hungary, should have liked all Red Bull fans and those responsible for the Austrian race stall.
Finally, there is clarity in terms of the future of the four-time Formula 1 world champion. So Verstappen continues for Red Bull Racing, at least in 2026, and does not succumb to Mercedes’s advances. Team boss Toto Wolff had already opened around the Dutch last year, and the flirt continued this year too.
The highlight of the speculation became a supposed meeting of Wolff and Verstappen, which is said to have occurred at the beginning of this month. Not only resourceful F1 fans had observed that the Red Bull Pilot with his yacht called “Unleash the Lion” before Sardinia, exactly where Wolff was also traveling with his ship.
“It’s no coincidence that two boats are traveling in front of Sardinia this week. One belongs to Toto Wolff, and the other belongs to Max Verstappen,” said F1 expert Ralf Schumacher at “Formel1.de” with a view to the rumors about a change of the shooting star to the silver arrows.
But Verstappen cannot understand all of the excitement. On Thursday, he said to the boat meeting in the course of his commitment to Red Bull: “And when my boat is next to that of Toto, then the boat is next to Toto.”
Verstappen emphasizes good relationships with Wolff
The 27-year-old continues: “You can have a personal relationship with someone, even if you don’t have a professional relationship with this person.”
Verstappen could not understand that there was such a fuss about both yachts off the coast of Sardinia.
“Some people just want to donate unrest, some just want to do drama,” he ordered the rumors.
