The European champions Lena Hentschel and Luis Avila Sanchez missed a medal at the swimming World Cup in Singapore. The two water jumpers from Berlin came to eighth in the mixed synchronized competition from the 3 m board with 257.61 points.
In May, Hentschel and Avila Sanchez, who have only jumped together since the end of last year, won gold at the European Championship in Belek in Turkish. In July, victory at the World University Games followed. In Singapore, as in the other dubbing competitions, the two missed the podium the day before. After a mistake in the third of five jumps, the duo had in the meantime slipped to tenth. On Tuesday, Hentschel from the 3 m board with Jette Müller, as well as Avila Sanchez with Jaden Eikermann from the tower, took sixth place.
The Italians Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro (308.13 points) secured gold in the mixed competition. Silver went to the Australian Cassiel Rousseau and Maddison Keeney (307.26) ahead of Li Yajie and Cheng Zilong from China (305.70 points).
The German water jumpers must continue to wait for the first medal in Singapore. Already in the past title fights in Doha, the DSV team had been empty for the first time in nine years. At the Olympic Games in Paris, too, the German jumpers had remained without precious metal for the first time since London in 2012.
