The police unions, Minister David van Weel of Justice and Security and Chief of Police Janny Knol have achieved a negotiating result of a new collective labor agreement for the police. Despite the complex social and administrative situation, parties have nevertheless succeeded in achieving a balanced package of agreements well before the end of the current employment conditions agreement. The agreements relate to income improvement, the labor market position of the police, sustainable employability of employees and the possibility to resign early.

Income

During the term of the CAO, from December 1, 2025 to December 15, 2027, the following salary increases will be implemented:

  • As of December 1, 2025, the salary will be increased by 1 percent.
  • As of March 1, 2026, the salary will be increased by 2 percent.
  • As of 1 September 2026, the salary will be increased by 2 percent.
  • As of January 1, 2027, the salary will be increased by 2 percent.
  • As of July 1, 2027, the salary will be increased by 1.5 percent.

In total there is a salary increase of 8.5%during the term.
In addition, police officers receive a one-off payment of € 1,100 gross in December 2025 and in September 2026. It has also been agreed that the IKB-Netto will be increased to € 500.

Sustainable employability and early retirement

The negotiating result includes agreements that are aimed at that employees are and remain sustainable during their police career. In addition, parties have made new adjusted and more targeted agreements about the possibility of early retirement of employees with heavy work, born in 1962, 1963, 1964 and the first quarter of 1965. These adapted agreements fit within the framework of the central ‘healthy to retirement’ agreement.

This negotiating result has become a balanced package with an eye for income, employability and earlier retirement. It is important that police work is rewarded. Police officers are committed to our safety day and night: heavy work that benefits society. I am grateful for the police for that.

Other appointments

Furthermore, agreements have been made about inflow and flow opportunities, career perspective, reward for aspirants, repayment of the study debt, inclusion, sustainability and police volunteers. Parties are satisfied with the negotiating result. The agreements in this result are aimed at all (groups of) employees and volunteers and contribute to a future -proof police organization.
