“Look, I want to make an animated anthology series that is essentially in that world, but with stories that you did not expect from that world,” the director explained. “There could even be an animation film in between, perhaps for streaming, or in the cinema.”
According to Cameron, the animation stories could tell “background stories about characters and lateral events that stayed out of the films”. “Who was the first to land on Pandora? The first expedition. You can go in any direction.”
Cameron is busy preparing the film Avatar: Fire and AsH who will premiere on December 19 this year. The new projects are therefore still in an early development stage.
“We have not done much with that yet. We are still collecting our stories and things like that, and I still have to find the right filmmakers and animators who want to do it,” said Cameron.
