Brian Wilson died – a stitch in the mind in a present that already breaks your heart every day at the early news. Oh, Brian, No! Of course, it is a bitter sweet pain.

Brian, the beautiful, restless soul now has peace and writes arrangements for the Great Gig in the Sky. And the music remains us. But how do we stand in front of Brian Wilson’s work and in the way, the other godless, large or lower, but very personal salvation bringers, who have produced and shaped the large, all borders overcoming force pop music since the post -war years and then the great departure in the 1960s and which shaped and shaped our world and thinking?
What do we have in the swelling tsunami of an increasingly aggressive conservative cultural struggle and right rollbacks at all levels? At a time when everything that this, sometimes roughly speaking, exponents of the “Counter Culture” and their heirs stood/stood/often actively occurred and fought – humanism, solidarity, liberality and respect for “different ways of life”, social justice, equality and inclusion, the preservation of nature, the right to personal and sexual self -determination, the freedom of the individual and the individual Spirit, anti -racism/militarism/fascism, minority rights, the overcoming of conflicts, the good old “international understanding”, the good old charity – at a time when all of these “western” ideals and values are put into perspective and desavoualized, slandered and pledged, attacked and destroyed.
Against the bluntness, the narrow -mindedness and hatred
And not only in and from the USA, which you can only look at with horror, but everywhere in this “West”, including the south and east. In this country, too, where a man who warned a “conservative revolution” years ago, who turns back the entire left-red green-green murder of the Gutmen murk of the past decades, and which “impressed” was “impressed” with which Donald Trump started destroying the American community and the international order and solidarity-where a man of the interior minister becomes.
Name it a wide arc, but maybe we owe it Brian Wilson, who has suffered a lot to bring beauty, joy and love into the world, not only to keep our music in good spirit (and pass them on). But also and again and again to actively position ourselves against ideas and politics like that of an Alexander Dobrindt in a visible and noticeable way. And with it the legacy of the Brian and all of our other general sanctuary, the living and the dead, to defend against the bluntness, the narrow -mindedness and hatred. Before we can only hear all these plates and songs at some point as nostalgic-curiosis of good-human folklore from a long past.
