Heerkens has been keeping Prague for Sparta Prague since 2021 and was still under contract with the Czech club until mid -2027. The Dutch youth international, recently European champion with Oranje O19, said earlier that he is a fan of Ajax from Kleins.
“Joeri is a talented young keeper with everything you need at that position: length, reflexes, rest, focus and the right mentality,” says technical director of Ajax Alex Kroes. “We believe that he can develop perfectly at Ajax and are confident that he can in the long term grow into the position of first keeper.”
Heerkens already announced his departure from Sparta Prague via Instagram earlier today. He thanked the Czechs for his time there. “Nineteen years, five clubs, lots of victories, many hard lessons, met many beautiful people and many beautiful memories.”
