Replacement for top strikers

A few days after top striker Viktor Gyöker’s departure, Sporting CP presented a new attacker to FC Arsenal. The Portuguese champion signed Luis Suárez from Laliga relegated and Almería and equips him with a contract until 2030. As always, the Portuguese announced the financial details. 22.2 million euros are initially due for the 27-year-old. Including bonuses, the transfer can increase to EUR 27.4 million, which would make it a record transfer of the Lisbonians.
Suárez moved from Olympique Marseille to Almería in the summer of 2023 after he was loaned for half a year. The Andalusians paid a transfer of 8 million euros for the attacker, who scored 41 goals in 79 games and presented 13 others. After his market value had to accept a clear minus in the first season, he was able to increase it from 3.5 million to 8 million euros last season.
In his history, Almería only received a higher transfer fee twice than for Suárez: 2020 for Darwin Núñez (34 million, Benfica) and 2023 for El Bilal Touré (30.2 million, Atalanta). So far, two professionals have been more expensive in Sporting’s history. In 2021, the club paid 24.5 million euros to Famalicão for the services of Manuel Ugarte and in 2023 24 million euros in Coventry for Gyökeres – both were sold with a clear profit. If all bonuses arrive, Suárez would pass both.
