The Düsseldorf e-commerce group The Platform Group AG opens up another business area. On Monday, the company announced the majority takeover of the WE Connect Work GmbH based in Bad Ems.
According to the new majority owner, WE Connect Work was founded in 2022 “as a platform for industrial and construction industry and focuses exclusively on B2B customers” such as real estate and industrial companies, developers and architectural offices. The focus of the activities is therefore “the electrical, sanitary, heating, drywall and welding technology trades”.
Dominik Benner, the CEO of The Platform Group, explained the background of the acquisition. “The takeover of the WE Connect Work is a new industry that we have analyzed for a long time,” he said in a statement. “In the construction industry we see B2B platform approaches exciting and profitable.”
The aim of the group of companies is to “expand the existing WE Connect Work and from 2026 to expand building materials, heating, sanitary and electrical heating areas,” explained Benner and emphasized the opportunities of this project: “So far there is no B2B platform for these product groups, so that we see a great potential.”
Financial details of the transaction were not published. According to the Platform Group, the existing management of WE Connect Work will “continue their work and be involved in society as a minority shareholder”.
