Follow -up favorite has to give up on tour

The Tour de France ends for the cycling stars around Tadej Pogačar and Florian Lipowitz on Sunday. The women started on Saturday – and a favorite had to give up.
The Olympic silver medalist Marlen Reusser, who drives for the “Movistar Team Women”, rose off the bike on Saturday after she had previously been involved in a mass crash. Before the start it was already known that the captain of her team suffers from stomach problems. Together with the fall, that was too much for the cycling star.
The management of Reusser informed the Swiss “look”: “I could hardly eat anything for three days. I completely lack the strength. In this state it makes no sense to drive. I have to come up with my health on a green branch. As soon as I can eat properly again, I go upwards.”
The task for the “Movistar Team” is particularly bitter, precisely because Reusser is the captain and her teammate Liane Lippert also fell. German was considered a favorite for the victory of the first stage, but arrived at the finish with much gap.
The Tour de France Femmes continues until August 3. The first stage and thus the yellow jersey for the leading man won the Dutchman Marianne Vos from the team “Visma-Lease A Bike”, in which there is also an exceptional driver Jonas Vingegaard captain and will probably end the cycling highlight of the season as second behind Pogačar.
