Last year Luca Herrmann took the step from the 3rd league of Dynamo Dresden to SC Paderborn in the 2nd Bundesliga. There, however, he rarely came to the train and is now returning after the rise of his ex-club. The Saxons did not provide any information about the contract details of the flexibly usable midfielder.

“We are very pleased that Luca has decided to return to Dresden. He has already shown in the past what great potential he has.

For Paderborn, Herrmann played 20 games over a total of 507 minutes last season, but he was only three times in the starting XI. The fact that a return to Dresden became a topic was also due to coach Thomas Stamm. From 2016 to 2018, Herrmann completed 44 games under the 42-year-old from 2016 to 2018 and won the DFB Cup of the A-Juniors in 2018. “Luca is versatile in midfield. It convinces with its running strength, a high intensity in the duels and a good feeling for rooms. It can thus give our center additional stability and dynamics,” said the Dynamo coach.

Herrmann added: “I am very happy to be part of Dynamo again. I had a wonderful time in Dresden. So the decision was very easy to make the opportunity to return. With Thomas Stamm, I have successfully worked together in Freiburg for a long time and therefore know the processes and the way of playing that suits me very well. Successful season in the 2nd Bundesliga. ”

According to the report by the “Bild” newspaper, there was a phone call between the coach and his ex-protégé weeks ago, in which he is said to have convinced him of a return. From 2021 to 2024, Herrmann had played 53 games for the SGD and went to the 3rd division in 2022 after relegation before the step took place to Paderborn last summer.
