It was not enough for the final for the DFB women. But that doesn’t change the situation of national coach Christian Wück.

Despite the narrow departure in the European Championship semi-final against Spain (0: 1 after extra time), those responsible for the DFB continue to rely fully on national coach Christian Wück. DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and sports director Nia Künzer clearly commented on the future of the coach in Zurich-and looked ahead with confidence.

Neuendorf rated the tournament in Switzerland as “success” and sees the national team with Wück and the team “totally well positioned”. Before he left, he emphasized: “We are 100 % convinced by Christian Wück, from his way.” Wück has initiated a transformation that was “successful”.

The coach’s courage to consistently rely on young players has paid off, the DFB president continued. “And that’s exactly the way we need.” Neuendorf also expresses full trust in the assistant coaches.

Sports director Künzer confirmed this assessment. The EM showed “why the coaching team and Christian Wück are the right one”. You can see a manuscript “very clearly”. Wück and his team have a clear plan that gives hope for the 2027 World Cup.

Matthias Sammer’s criticism of the state of German football did not want to overestimate Neuendorf. “You don’t have to paint too black now and always say that we are on the ground.” He “didn’t want to talk everything in Bausch and Arch”.

Wück’s indications of deficits in talent promotion took up both Neuendorf and Künzer. You have to invest more in the training of trainers, said Neuendorf, and professionalization of the Bundesliga was also necessary. Künzer added: “The first things were initiated.”
