It is not for nothing that the Mont Ventoux is called the mountain of agony. Even Tadeus Pogatscher had to struggle. It is still 1.2 kilometers to the goal. Jonas Wingegar close to the rear wheel of the man in yellow. The drivers already have 1400 meters of altitude in the bones, a good 30 seconds before Pogacha and Wingegar makes the stage victory out of an outlier group. If Healy, Valentin Pare Petre, Santiago Butrago and Ilan van Wilder Healy jumps in the pink jersey, then Paris Patrick can follow. The spectators whip the French to top performance. It is the first French stage win of this tour. And then also on her holy Mont Ventoux. A good 40 seconds later, the favorites come rushed up. Wingega tries it one last time, but Pogatscher counters, presses on again in the finish and finally takes two seconds from the Danes. Pogatscher remains in the yellow jersey in front of Wingega. The German Florian Lipowicz becomes tenth, loses a good minute to the two, but consolidates its outstanding third place in the overall ranking.
