TSG Hoffenheim reacted to Anton Stach’s departure and committed Wouter Burger from Stoke City. The 24 -year -old Dutch is also home to the defensive midfield and the second newcomer to Leon Avdullahu (FC Basel) is already in the defensive midfield.

“With its size and physicality, Wouter is not only a uncompromising duels with a very good understanding of the game, thanks to his strong left foot he also has his qualities on the offensive. He is therefore a typical box-to-box player. He is also in the best football age and has already been able to gain a lot of international experience at the age of 24,” said Andreas Schicker, Managing Director Sport at TSG. “After the departure of Anton Stach, we wanted to add up to personnel in our midfield. We are convinced of having found a player with Wouter who has exactly the qualities that we were looking for for this position.”

According to reports, 4 million to 5 million euros are due as a transfer fee. Together with Avdullahu, which cost 8 million euros, a large part of the 20 million euros from the statement sale was used for the position that is faithful. Both newcomers know each other from a short time together in Basel and played a game together.

Burger had moved to Stoke for 5 million euros in 2023 after two strong years at FCB and since then. In 86 games he scored five goals and was able to present six more. With a market value of 4.5 million euros, he was one of the most valuable professionals of the English second division club, who came 18th in the past season.
