If we compare by 2023, when there was also an extended 3 -day weekend with July 21, we will note a status quo in terms of overnight stays. The weather was similar to this weekend in that extended weekend of 2023, but less hot.
Around 300,000 day tourists dropped to the coast this weekend, slightly more than in 2023. The top day was on Saturday with 125,000 day tourists.
The atmosphere on the coast is not only determined by the good weather, but certainly also by the many events and the wide range of activities that are provided by the coastal municipalities and the tourist entrepreneurs. For example, the fireworks already attracted many people in response to the national holiday and there was, among other things, the Kneistival in Knokke-Heist and the Beach Festival in Nieuwpoort.
