Around 12.45 an Airbus A321 from Wizz Air made an emergency landing at Schiphol. It was a plane from the Polish city of Poznań, which was on its way to London.

Schiphol received a ‘Mayday call’ from the pilot around 12.35 pm. Such a report is only sent if the device needs help immediately.

According to the spokesperson for the Kennemerland Security Region, there was smoke in the cockpit. Various emergency services were called in, including the fire brigade and a trauma helicopter.

The plane landed safely at Schiphol. Once on the ground, the problem turned out to have been resolved, the spokesperson reports. But whether the plane can fly through is still unclear.

Second emergency notification this weekend

Schiphol also received an emergency notification yesterday. Then the pilot made a Mayday call of a cargo flight because of problems with the motorcycle. The plane was ultimately able to land in Amsterdam without any problems.
