VOC history comes to life in Batavialand: “We don’t want to miss those cannon shots”

It may now be known that the heyday of the VOC has a large shadow side. But the ‘Golden Age’, in which the Netherlands controlled international trade, was also a heyday of crafts. In Museum Batavialand in Lelystad, visitors can experience what life was like on such a ship to Asia. Certainly no fun, it turns out.
