“Great, Crazy, I hardly have any words for it,” the rider of Ineos Grenadiers stammered against the NOS. “It really has to land, this feels like a dream.”

‘It didn’t go fast enough on the Peyresourde, I knew I had to do it’

Thymen Arensman

Winner Tour de France-stage 14

Logically, Arensman was completely through after his great ride. “A stage victory in the Tour de France might make your career, but the way I did it is really incredible. It didn’t go fast enough on the Peyresourde and I knew I had to do it.”

But with the descent and the final climb, Arensman was still doing some work. ,, From the last eight kilometers to the finish I really felt all the power flowing out of my legs. Only in the last 200 meters did I feel that I was going to make it. I saw so many Dutch people and so many Dutch flags in the final phase. Because of the help of the fans I made it. Thanks for that. ”
