The quarter -finals against co -favorite France begins for the team of national coach Christian Wück with a difficult blow. A DFB player affords a serious dropout.

It was the worst start for the German national team in the European Championship quarter-finals against France: DFB defender Kathrin Hendrich had to take red in the twelfth minute after a blackout, through the penalty caused by her, the French took the lead. Hendrich was completely dissolved afterwards, hit his hands in front of the face.

The 11th minute in the time-honored St. Jakob Park in Basel: France’s Selma Bacha beats a free kick flank from the right half field long and far into the DFB penalty. There Marie-Antoinette Katoto holds his head in, but nods the ball in the turmoil clearly next to the gate.

Then the video referee (VAR) reports to the impartial Tess Olofsson: The Swede should look at a scene. Suspected: red card and penalty.

And only in the repetition it becomes clear: away from the ball, Hendrich has captured the Griedge Mbock in the penalty area on the long hair braid and thus prevented it from possibly coming to the ball. Hendrich, completely unnecessary in the hustle and bustle of penalty area.

After a brief viewing of the pictures and consideration, Olofsson evaluates as an assault of the German player – the bitter episode: red for Hendrich, who cannot believe, and penalty for “Les Bleues”. The converted Grace Geyoro for the interim leadership for France. And this early dropout had to be outnumbered by this early dropout.
