The training camp in Zeeland is on FC Volendam. In Burgh-Haamstede it played 1-1 against Norwich City. “You sit on each other’s lip all week,” says Robert Mühren, who looks out to go home again.

The selection and staff stayed in Zeeland last week. There the team worked on team building, trained it, went mussel fishing and also did a quiz.

Tibbe Kwakman, supportive Staff member, organized the quiz and trainer Rick Kruys presented it together with him. “There are times of relaxation that you have to be in a cozy setting. With nice questions and videos, a quiz gives energy to a group.”

Striker Robert Mühren, who recently extended his contract for a year, won the quiz with his team. “A day off is attached to that,” says the striker proudly. “One of the questions was: what kind of animals are mussels?” Says Quizmaster Rick Kruys about the content of the quiz.

Final match

To conclude the training camp in Zeeland, Volendam practiced against the number twelve of the Championship, the second English level. Trainer Rick Kruys started his team in the strongest possible setup.

Volendam was the parent party in a fairly intense exhibition game. Robert Mühren and Brandley Kuwas were given opportunities in the first half. Gibson Yah almost played a play ball in his own goal, but the pole saved.

In the oppressive heat, Volendam tried to put cared for football on the mat and Norwich forced the counter. The English only opposed a dangerous long shot.

Volendam started less sharp in the second half. Mawouna Amevor tapped the ball behind goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen. Then Volendam came to the same level thanks to the help of Norwich. A changed shot from substitute Aurelio Oehlers brought the score to 1-1. Towards the end, both teams changed a lot. The intensity remained high, but the opportunities were sparing.
