FC Barcelona has to wait longer for the longed -for return to the legendary Camp Nou, as well as coach Hansi Flick for his premiere in the regular home of the Catalans.
The stadium has been modernized since the summer of 2023, and the inauguration has already been postponed several times. Now the club announced that the game around the Joan Gamper Trophy will not take place on August 10 at Camp Nou. It is played instead in the Estadi Johan Cruyff – 6,000 spectators have space there.
“Due to the scope of the work carried out,” it was impossible to “meet all the requirements of the license regulations even for a sectors’ restoration,” it said. The members will be provided with all new information about the return date.

According to the newspaper “La Vanguardia”, the first phase of the work that includes the basement and the first and second place should not yet be completed. Since there is still no new appointment for a return to Camp Nou, the opportunity will even be considered to play again in the Estati Lluís Companys next season. The home games have been played there since the move.
FC Barcelona played the last game to date at the end of May 2023 in its actual home. For Barça’s German coach Hansi Flick, the return to Camp Nou would also be a premiere. He took over the team last year.
