Fernando Carro still kills the farewell to Florian Wirtz and the advertising of the German record champion. Now he is addressing a clear announcement to Bayern.
Florian Wirtz’s transfer to FC Liverpool caused a sensation – also because of the unsuccessful advertising of FC Bayern. In an interview with the “Welt am Sonntag”, Leverkusen’s managing director Fernando Carro has now expressed extensive statements about the decision of the international – and the Munich team.
“I’ll say it like this: Something like that doesn’t really belong,” said Carro for the repeated public advertising of Bayern around Wirtz. He continued: “It was more amazed than bothered that they were publicly so aggressive. But I think it didn’t help Florian and his parents.”
Regarding the efforts of the Munich team, Carro said: “The Bavarians were apparently convinced that Florian would choose them. I told them: We have other information.” Ultimately, the 22-year-old actually opted for Liverpool.
This was apparently accommodating Leverkusen: “When Florian and his parents told us that it would be Liverpool, we were of course not sad under the given circumstances,” said Carro. And further: “It’s no secret that we preferred a transfer abroad.”
The fact that Wirtz cannot be kept was already indicated in spring. Carro said: “I think in April, May, when his decision was well advanced.”
