Water jumper Moritz Wesemann brought the gold medal from the three-meter board at the World University Games Rhein-Ruhr.
The 23-year-old prevailed with a total of 454.20 points ahead of Yukang Hu (China/448.45) and Luke Alexander Sitz (USA/429.75). 18 -year -old Tim Axer came fifth in Berlin with 393.00 points.
Synchronous jumper Hentschel/Avila got the first gold
It is already the second gold medal for the German water jumper team at the competitions that were once known as a university. The day before, Lena Hentschel and Luis Avila triumphed from the three-meter board in the synchronized competition.
Wesemann, who had been the most successful male participant at the European Championships in Belek in May at the European Championships in Belek, fueled confidence in Singapore through his strong appearance. From July 26th, the water jumpers will fight for precious metal.
Bronze for Synchronous jumpers Hentschel/Müller
Wesemann did not remain the only one on Friday who was happy about a medal. After Lena Hentschel followed the “threesome” together with Jette Müller in dubbing the women. The German duo won bronze behind Yu Ouyang/Weiying Wang (China) and Lanie Lynn Gutch/Eliana Claire Joyce (USA).
In contrast, the competition for Anastasia Simakova ended in the ungrateful fourth place in the all -round of rhythmic gymnastics after it started second to the second competition day. In the end, she was missing less than two points. In contrast, Margarita Kolosov, fourth at the Olympic Games in Paris, had nothing to do with the front places. In the end, she was a good 15 points behind the winner Alina Harnasko (Belarus).
There was only a final with German participation in the swimming competitions on Friday. Just like Simakova, Ole Mats Eidam (4th place) and Björn Kammann (7th place) were denied a happy ending over 50 meters butterfly.
The World University Games opened in Duisburg on Wednesday, and the first decisions were made on Thursday. The games in which 9,200 athletes from around 150 countries compete in 18 sports, end on July 27th.
