The distance with his mother was quite large. “I would like to have had that 800 kilometers a week. I was proud of her, she was a beautiful woman. To almost the last last very independent. On her heels, yes. They very much characterized. She has worn the same kind of shoes all her life.”

Bram was always very busy with his mother, says Evert. “Bram regularly shared his worries about his mother, with whom it was getting worse and worse. In November she would turn 100 and it was actually assumed that she would still make it. That did not happen.”
