Lena Hentschel and Luis Avila Sanchez got the first medal for Germany at the World University Games. Pauline Pfeif and Caroline Coordes then got silver from the 10 m board.
Hentschel and Avila Sanchez (both Berlin), who also won the 3 m board EM-Gold in the mixed synchronized competition in May, won clearly in Berlin on Thursday (288.21 points) in front of the representatives from China (275.40) and the USA (265.65).
For Hentschel (24), Olympic bronze medalist from Tokyo, and 19-year-old Avila Sanchez, the world games for students-once known as a university-represent the dress rehearsal for the swimming World Cup in Singapore, where from July 26th by the water jumpers will be around medals.
