The controversial English rap group Bob Vylan will still perform in Concertzaal 013 in Tilburg. The duo was recently deleted in many places from the agenda after statements about the Israeli army. The performance in a supporting program in 013 was also canceled, but the rap group is now coming to Tilburg with its own show. Poppodium 013 says it does not accept that the act is “threatened to be canceled because of words that arise from indignation about a humanitarian disaster”.

The frontman called at Glastonbury Festival ‘Death at the Israeli Army’ at the end of June during a performance. Then performances by the group were deleted in many places from the agenda.

The duo would perform on Sunday, October 19 in 013. The rap group would then be in the supporting program of the American punk band Gogol Bordello, but that band announced on Monday that Bob Vylan is no longer involved in their tour due to ‘logistics complications’.

Now the act is coming to Tilburg. Poppodium 013 has published an extensive explanation about this. “Bob Vylan would rather come along as a support act with another show, but that was canceled due to changes to that tour. We are happy that they are now coming to Tilburg with their own show,” you can read.

“We think the situation in Gaza deserves all the attention.”

“We are aware that there was a discussion after their performance on Glastonbury, in which they fiercely care about the Israeli army and their actions in Gaza. Those words are not ours, but we do think that the situation in Gaza deserves all the attention. Structural oppression, war and massive questions of emotion, also on a podium.

“We do not accept that an act like Bob Vylan, a pronounced punk rap duo with a long history of political activism, is in danger of being canceled because of words that arise from indignation about a humanitarian disaster.”

In addition to Tilburg, there are also shows of the duo confirmed in Paradiso and Doornroosje.
