The driver of the cross bike, who scoured a cyclist on the Bodegravenstraat in Tilburg on Monday evening after a police pursuit, is a 21-year-old man from this city. The police report this on Tuesday. The cyclist was seriously injured in the collision and was taken to the hospital.

Agents saw the motocross ride on the Moerse Dreef driving without a license plate. He also committed several traffic violations. When agents gave him a stop sign, he ran off at high speed.

The police started the chase with sirens and flashing lights. The motocross rider did not want to stop and tried to get away. On the Bodegravenstraat he got out of sight of agents.

Fleeing
Not much later the driver bumped into a cyclist. The victim was seriously injured and was not approachable. After the collision, the motocross ride ran away towards the Borculopark. An agent stayed with the wounded cyclist and provided first aid until the ambulance was there. The cyclist was taken to the hospital.

Other agents went looking for the motocross rider, initially without success. A passerby later called to the police that the driver was walking in the direction of the Bingelradestraat.

Seizure
The man from Tilburg could be arrested there. His cross bike and telephone were seized. His driver’s license was also collected. He is stuck and is interrogated by the police. How the cyclist is doing a day later is not clear.

The cause of the accident is investigated by a (independent) police team from another region, because the Tilburg police have been involved in this collision.
