Will a Bundesliga star become a record transfer?

Hugo Ekitiké is one of the best players in the past Bundesliga season. The Frankfurt striker will probably not contest another.
The negotiations between Eintracht Frankfurt and Newcastle United for Hugo Ekitiké are becoming more and more concrete. As the well -informed portal “The Athletic” reports, a high sum is under discussion. As a result, it is around 75 million euros, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano also reported a first offer for more than 70 million.
For Newcastle United, Ekitiké would be the record transfer. So far, the “Magpies” from the north of England have never paid more than 70 million euros. The Swede Alexander Isak was worth this sum in the summer of 2022. With 54 goals in 86 Premier League games, the English club will be more than satisfied with the deal three years later. So now Ekitiké should follow.
The Frenchman has been playing in Frankfurt for a year and a half and was initially loaned from Paris Saint-Germain to the Hesse. After half a year, Eintracht then committed Ekitiké – and should not regret it. The 23-year-old striker was involved in 23 goals in the past Bundesliga season, also contributed a lot in the Europa League and in the DFB Cup, so that he came to 34 scorer points in a total of 48 competitive games.
Since then it has been clear that Ekitiké for Frankfurt would hardly be kept despite the qualification for the Champions League. The list of prominent interested parties was considered long, and FC Liverpool is said to have included. So far, however, it has not been. Eintracht would be an expensive sale for Eintracht, but probably not the most expensive. That remains Randal Kolo Muani, who switched to Paris Saint-Germain for 95 million euros in 2023.
