Berlin (dpa -AFX) – To limit housing costs for citizens’ girders, the left pleads again for a general rental cover. Responsibility for the high costs is not among people who would get citizens’ fees, but with the “companies who then catch up with the money,” said left-wing boss Ines Schwerdtner in Berlin.
A “rental cover for everyone” would make sense, “she added. That would “cover the profits of real estate companies”. In contrast, cuts in the assumption of costs would be the wrong way, said Schwerdtner. A high bureaucratic effort is already being determined whether apartments are appropriate for the recipients. The left-wing politician said that the bureaucracy would only expand stricter rules.
She referred to statements by Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In the ARD “Summer Interview”, the CDU chairman had addressed a covering of the rental costs for citizens’ parishes borne by the state. A review of the granted apartment size would therefore be conceivable.
