Until 4.15 pm there are no trains between Beilen and Groningen on the track. Between Loon and Taarlo, near Assen, a train crashed on a car this morning around 8.30 am.
The car was dragged by the train. The car caught fire at the collision and the fire spread to the front of the train. Emergency services were massively present.
The driver and about seventy occupants of the train remained unharmed. The passengers were brought to Groningen by buses, where they are taken care of and further accompanied.
Little is left of the car. The police cannot yet provide more information.
The train traffic between Beilen and Groningen has been shut down in both directions, the overhead line was damaged in the fire. The Dutch Railways reports that there are stop buses between Groningen, Groningen Europapark, Haren, Assen and Beilen.
