20 stops and 500 bicycles
The renewal is desperately needed: the old bus station became too small. In the new design there is room for twenty bus stops. Three stairs will soon connect the bus station directly with the platforms, for a quick switch between bus and train. There will also be a bicycle shed with space for 500 bicycles.
“We see that more and more employees are coming to Schiphol by bike,” says Patricia Vitalis, director of Schiphol Operations. “We are going to make better use of the space and increase capacity. And we want to increase comfort, for example with a seamless switch between bus and train.”
