Mathieu van der Poel stranded in sight of the harbor after phenomenal effort: Tim Merlier strikes in mass sprint

Tim Merlier has won the ninth stage in the Tour de France. The Belgian of Soudal Quick-Step was the fastest in a mass sprint in Châteauroux. Mathieu van der Poel, together with teammate Jonas Rickaert, colored the ride. The Dutchman rode more than 170 kilometers in the attack and was only taken back in the final kilometer.
