A stitch of a wasp on the Luikerweg near Valkenswaard on Friday caused a collision with several cars. The driver of a delivery van hit the sting while driving and bumped into two oncoming traffic. A striking accident – but certainly not a unique case. Animals in the car often cause fright and accidents.

In Eindhoven things went wrong in 2019 when a woman was shocked by a spider in her car. The animal crawled over her leg and she completely panicked. She drove through a fence and hit the facade of a business premises. The damage to the building was considerable, partly due to a short circuit. Nobody was injured.

It is not with insects: larger animals also sometimes cause danger. A motorist on the highway in Sprang-Capelle got the shock of his life in 2024 when a swan (or goose) flew against his windshield.
