A stitch of a wasp on the Luikerweg near Valkenswaard on Friday caused a collision with several cars. The driver of a delivery van hit the sting while driving and bumped into two oncoming traffic. A striking accident – but certainly not a unique case. Animals in the car often cause fright and accidents.
Spin is shocked motorist in Eindhoven
In Eindhoven things went wrong in 2019 when a woman was shocked by a spider in her car. The animal crawled over her leg and she completely panicked. She drove through a fence and hit the facade of a business premises. The damage to the building was considerable, partly due to a short circuit. Nobody was injured.

A spider also caused an accident at Oosteind. A woman drove her van over the Heikantsestraat in June this year when she was shocked by a spider in the car. She got off the road, drove a tree out of the ground and ended up on her head in a ditch. The woman was shocked, but her car was total loss.

It is not with insects: larger animals also sometimes cause danger. A motorist on the highway in Sprang-Capelle got the shock of his life in 2024 when a swan (or goose) flew against his windshield. The window was broken in one fell swoop, the view was gone and the vehicle had to go to the side urgently. The occupants were released with a fright, but the havoc was great.
