It was only in March that Gina Schumacher had become a daughter. Now she has reported in sports – and how.
Just a few months after the birth of her daughter, Gina-Maria Schumacher has again set a sporty exclamation mark. At the Reining World Cup in the Swiss givrins, the 28-year-old daughter of Formula 1 record world champion Michael Schumacher led the German team to the World Cup title-with an almost perfect ride on the family own “CS Ranch”.
For Schumacher it is the first gold medal as a mother. In the “Senior Professional Riders” category, she secured the decisive contribution to the team victory with 222 points. As the penultimate starter for Germany, she knew about the importance of her ride. “I was more nervous than usual,” she told the “Bild” newspaper. “The pressure is just different in team competitions. It’s not just about you – others rely on you.”
The competition takes place on the property of Corinna Schumacher, in the Swiss town of Givrins near Lake Geneva. The international elite of western riding measures just a few minutes from the family’s residence. In the Reining discipline, over 200 rider-horse pairs from 14 nations will compete this year.
It was only in March Schumacher and her husband, Westernreiter Iain Bethke, parents of daughter Millie.
