Although the measurements through the Stadslabo did not show any acute alarming values this morning, a clear floating layer of blue -green algae was established.
Mayor Dirk De Fauw: “In order to avoid health risks, the swimming zone is therefore temporarily closed with immediate effect. Both the Flemish Environment Agency and the Stedelijk Labo have been informed and follow the situation closely. The swimming zone can only be opened again after new samples and a favorable analysis. We expect that the swimming zone will no longer open this weekend.”
With regard to the planned Big Jump from Sunday, it is currently being investigated whether an alternative location is possible. More information about this will follow later.
