Stopping caravan dealer Brugt van der Meulen, who is cleaning up his last things, thinks it is wonderful how the ‘fast guys’ have brushed up the smooth floor, while there are still some camping reestants spread throughout the hall. There must also be racet in the hall for a small demonstration.
Bert, the fastest of the couple, crawls into his racing art, and makes his laps between the campsmanship. Due to the somewhat smooth floor, sometimes also nice and drifting through the bends. It doesn’t make much noise, because the kart runs on LPG. And there is also little emissions. Yet a good extraction will soon be needed in the hall.
“We have to ensure continuous refreshing air,” says Stijn. The noise in the hall is also not too bad. And that is completely the case outside, so they do not expect complaints from local residents who themselves live on the industrial site. “The hall is very well insulated, and we have done sound investigations, so much more noise than from the cars that run here on the ring road will not be heard,” says Stijn confidently.
They have also visited the entire neighborhood to tell about their new enterprise. “And the reactions were good there. With questions they can always call us, because we are open to everything.” They also found a willing ear at the municipality of Assen. “They welcome our plan, so from that side we get plenty of cooperation.”
It is now about the last bump before they can definitively start the adventure with the design of the hall and the construction of the go -kart track for which one more wall has to be taken in the hall. The wait is for the environmental permit, which can be issued at any time by the municipality. There can still be an objection to this.
Whether there is sufficient need for a kart center in Drenthe, there is no doubt about that. “If you want to go to a kart center in the region, for example in Groningen or Friesland, there are long waiting times. So one in Drenthe there, something like that will be received very welcome.” If everything goes well, the duo thinks it can open the kart center early next year.
