Sander Loones, Mayor Koksijde: “Occasionally we have some nuisance from people who are drinking too much in broad daylight. Specifically on two squares in our municipality. We are following that on. The police have been working on that for years. The public prosecutor is also cooperating. But we are now switching a little higher and introducing an alcohol ban on those two squares.”
The mayor does admit that the new alcohol ban must be announced even better. Soon there will also be signs. After the summer, Koksijt wanted to evaluate the ban. Other cities and municipalities also opt for such a ban and GAS fines against nuisance. More and more often people buy alcohol in supermarkets and drink it in parks or squares.
