Times change for the hunebed center in Borger. “Around us you have Wildlands and the Drents Museum, which renew a lot. People expect more than before, that’s why it’s time for us to expand,” said director Harrie Wolters
That is why an ambitious plan has now been made. A completely renovated museum, with a modern building and a new exhibition. Wolters: “Everything in a new look, bigger, more beautiful, more luxurious and more durable.”
The current museum consists of various separate parts: an exhibition about the Hunebedden, a Keiententuin, an information center and the Oertijdpark outside. Visitors do get information, but miss the big picture. That is why everything is now being brought together into one coherent story.
The biggest change is the arrival of a new museum building, designed to go perfectly in the landscape. Think of a building that is partly in the ground, with a green roof that overflows into the site, you can even walk over it.
