Against Belinda Bencic, Swiatek played as if she was standing on her beloved gravel. The Swiss was quickly put on a 3-0 deficit and could not recover from it. In the second set there was no stopping for Bencic, the number 35 in the world. Swiatek was much and much stronger and did not finish any game in the last set: 6-2 6-0.

Amanda Anisimova outlined Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka also did not succeed in reaching the final in her third semifinal at Wimbledon. The American Amanda Anisimova defeated the Belarusian number 1 in the world in three sets and for the first time in her career reached the final of a grand slam tournament: 6-4 4-6 6-4.

The 23-year-old number 12 in the world ranking surprised Sabalenka in the first set by coming up at 5-4 after a break and then pulling the set towards him on his own service. Sabalenka, who opened the Australian open twice in her career and once won Roland Garros, fought back in the second set. At a score of 3-3 she won the storage of the American and finished the set on her own service, although she needed five set points for that.

In the third set, Anisimova took a 4-1 lead with two breaks and although Sabalenka kept trying to get back into the set, Anisimova kept up.

Dutch guidance

Anisimova is accompanied by the Dutch Rick Vleeshouwers (coach) and Rob Brandsma (physical trainer) at Wimbledon. Anisimova played her first semifinal at Wimbledon, only at Roland Garros did she reach the last four earlier. In any case, she was not in a grand slam final before.
