PSV and AZ reached an agreement on Wednesday morning about the transition from the 20-year-old youth international, who later reported in Eindhoven to undergo the medical inspection at Topsupport. It went without problems, so that Van Bommel, if the last points and commas are set, can put his signature on Thursday under the agreed five -year contract.
The Spanish defender Yarek Gasiorowski has also completed the medical examination with a positive result and he is also expected to be presented as an asset on Thursday. The 20-year-old left-legged defender is taken over from Valencia for 9.5 million euros.

PSV previously strengthened himself with goalkeeper Nick Olij and also reached agreement with Matej Kovar. The Eindhoven club pays for Bayer Leverkusen a transfer fee of 5 million euros plus 2 million euros in possible bonuses. The Czech goalkeeper still has to be inspected.

Ruben van Bommel’s transfer is involved in a transfer fee of almost 16 million euros. In combination with a resale percentage of 10 percent, that amount will ensure that the switch from the 20-year-old attacker will go into the books as a record transfer between two Dutch clubs. The transition from Miralem Sulejmani in 2008 from SC Heerenveen to Ajax of 16.25 million euros is almost certainly surpassed by the future resale percentage. Van Bommel’s transfer is the largest incoming transfer from PSV anyway.
Income AZ
The special thing about this deal is that AZ will also have almost 16 million euros net, which was an absolute requirement for the Alkmaar club to cooperate with the transfer. Where normally one third flows away from issues such as solidarity allowance and a percentage of the transfer fee, which goes to the player, it is now different. With this transfer, Van Bommel was entitled to a quarter of the transfer fee, but abandoned it to make the deal possible. The money that the attacker has missed as a result is discounted in his PSV salary, so that he immediately joins the big earners in Eindhoven. By setting up the deal in this way, PSV was able to press the transfer fee over 20 million euros and AZ will still get the desired amount.

Also other than to do is that AZ hardly has to deduct any money for the solidarity allowance. The majority of them, a few tons, would go to PSV, where Van Bommel has been in training for seven years. PSV waives the claim of the solidarity allowance, so that only MVV, for which Van Bommel was active between his PSV and AZ period, can still look forward to a small amount.
