Volleyball players in Nations League down against Turkey
11.24 pm: The Dutch volleyball women lost to Turkey in the Nations League. The team of national coach Felix Koslowski did not get a set in Apeldoorn against the number 3 in the world: 0-3 (19-25 16-25 21-25).
For the strongly rejuvenated Orange it was the sixth defeat in nine duels in the Nations League. In the coming days, meetings with Belgium, the Czech Republic and Italy will follow in Apeldoorn. The first eight of the eighteen countries continue in the Nations League. The Netherlands must in all probability win all three duels to keep a chance to do so.

Retain volleyball club Lycurgus after bankruptcy for Eredivisie
4.32 pm: Lycurgus in Groningen is retained for the Eredivisie Volleyball. The Topvolleybal Groningen Foundation (STG) has been able to submit sufficient financial guarantees, confirms Volleyball Association Nevobo. Due to a bankruptcy of Nova Tech Lycurgus BV on 9 May, the place of the Groningen Eredivisie club in the Eredivisie was vacant.
The STG has received help from the municipality of Groningen and the local business community. “The board is happy and intensely grateful to report that the restart is a fact. The required license has since been granted,” the foundation reports on the club’s website. Lycurgus, which lost the final title of Orion, will not end up in a European context and finishes his home games in the Alfa College Sports Center instead of Martiniplaza.
Botic van de Zandschulp to quarterfinals in Braunschweig
4.30 pm: Botic van de Zandschulp has reached the quarterfinals of the Challenger tournament in Braunschweig, Germany. The fifth tennis player placed on the gravel in two sets defeated the Spanish qualifier David Jorda Sanchis: 6-1 6-1.
In the quarterfinals, Van de Zandschulp will take on Mariano Navone. The Argentinian is placed fourth.
Van de Zandschulp was eliminated a week earlier in the second round of Wimbledon by Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
KLM Open from 4 to 7 June at The International
15.48 hours: The KLM Open Golf Tournament will be on The International next year from 4 to 7 June, a golf course near Amsterdam. The organization of the event reports this.
It will be the 106th edition of the KLM Open, which was won this year by the Scot Connor Syme. It is the third year in a row that the tournament takes place at The International.
National coach Theo Bos with a small team to EK BMX
15.14 hrs: National coach Theo Bos traveled to Latvia with a small selection where the European BMX championships will be held from Thursday.
