The Double winners of Bayern Munich will play against Bayer Leverkusen in front of a record of the club at the start of the Bundesliga season.
25,000 tickets have already been sold for the duel of the German champion and cup winner with the Werkelf on September 6th in the Allianz Arena. This brings the previous record of the club of 24,000 spectators from the Champions League game against FC Barcelona in December 2022.
“It will be a festival for the fans of women’s football and FC Bayern,” said club director Bianca Rech to the SID and added: “It will be about experiencing and feeling the peculiarity of women’s football in this community. This is the goal we have with this game: to make women and girls’ football much, much stronger.”
Foreign defender Kathi Naschenweng said: “It will be a great feeling to run out of such a big backdrop.” The team of the new coach José Barcala is “very confident” that many fans will be added.
The German record for a game of women is 73,680 fans who came to the 2011 World Cup opening game between Germany and Canada in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The Bundesliga top value is 38,365 spectators who pursued the duel between 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt in Müngersdorf in 2023. The 91,648 fans are the world record, which the Champions League game of FC Barcelona attended VfL Wolfsburg in April 2022 in the sold-out Camp Nou.
