The world’s largest aircraft manufacturer Airbus has received a preliminary contract for its smallest long-distance passenger jet from Malaysia.

The low -cost airline Airasia signed an agreement with the manufacturer in Paris about the purchase of 50 copies of the Airbus A321XLR, as announced on Friday. The agreement also includes purchase options via another 20 machines of the type.

The A321XLR is the long -distance version of the medium -range jet A321neo. Thanks to additional tanks, the machine has a range of up to around 8,700 kilometers according to the manufacturer, which is sufficient for flights from Europe to the USA. This enables airlines to offer direct long -haul flights even on less sought -after routes, on which the usual large -scale jets could not be filled enough.
